Well, we officially did it and don't we look fetching. We hiked the Subway, and we made it out alive. In retrospect, it was a great hike. Greg tells me the reason he likes hiking is because it is an experience that always changes or tests you in some way.

I was tested both physically and mentally. As none of us were in shape, the nine mile hike that turned into twelve (after getting lost) was taxing physically. We all had extremely sore muscles. Mentally I had to conquer a slight fear of heights. I had never been repelling, but I thought it would be no big deal. Our first unscheduled repel (due to getting lost) required a repel down a sheer cliff face, and I thought it would be no big deal. Greg said my face was whiter than when he made me climb Angels Landing last year. Although it got easier, I never enjoyed the repelling. I was also made to feel like quite the wimp when a Boy Scout troop nimbly scaled down a cliff while I was glued to the face of a rock with everyone yelling at me to lean back. It didn't help that Greg was Indiana Jones on the hike!
Despite my minor traumas, the canyon was beautiful. At moments, I too felt like Indiana Jones as we repelled into narrow slot canyons and had to swim through freezing water to get out on the other side. The water did feel nice as it was over 100 degrees in Zion's.
The actual Subway portion of the hike was breathtaking and filled with interesting pools, rock formations and waterfalls. I even created my own water slide, which was quite a lot of fun.

After many days of reflection on what Greg said was an "experience," a now showered and clean me can report that it was a great experience. I can now walk normally and have terrific battle wounds from our adventure.

I'm glad you got to do this before you leave Utah! I'm a little jealous, it looks like a lot of fun! How is summer and the job hunt going?
Holy crap. I'd rather have 3 sets of twins than do that. when are you going to ny and when can we see you?
i thought greg seemed a little "changed" when he was here in June...
